  • HENNING MANKELL: Read his novels about Policeman Kurt Wallander. Besides, his social novels are excellent!
  • IAN MC. EWAN: I suggest you reading Saturday.
  • ISABEL ALLENDE. She is quite good when she writes about her own life
  • JONATHAN FRANZEN: Read his novel, Freedom. It's a long story about a Northamerican upper-class family.
  • JOSE SARAMAGO: Any novel by this Portuguese superb writer will make you think!
  • ORHAN PAMUK: A very interesting Turkish writer whose novels are always really worth reading
  • PAOLO GIORDANO: A young Italian writer who has written an impressive first novel entitled La solitudine dei numeri primi
  • PAUL AUSTER: Most of his novels are interesting. Read, for instance, Oracle Night or The book of illusions

November's poem. My daughter, my friend by Kristina Cyronek

I see the pain in your eyes and feeling like you do I wish I could take it all away and skip these years for you Being a teen is so very hard, it really isn't fair To go through all of this and still feel like no one is there You don't have to tell me how you feel, I see it every day Like nothing you ever do is good enough, or you're just in the way If you could see through my eyes, how confident and true You becoming a young woman, but still somewhat a youth I can't make this feeling go away, I can't fix all of your tears But I can tell you that I know, the feelings and the fears. If you ask me how I know, all that you are going through I will answer simply I know this all because... I have been there too.

Veo el dolor en tus ojos y me siento como tú deseo que pudiera llevármelo todo y omitir estos años por ti. Ser un adolescente es tan difícil, no es realmente justo. Atravesar todo esto y sentir que no hay nadie ahí. No tienes que decirme cómo te sientes, lo veo cada día. Nada de lo que haces es suficientemente bueno, o sólo vas por tu camino. Si pudieras ver a través de mis ojos, tan segura y tan verdadera. Te has convertido en una joven mujer, pero aún hay una juventud que no puedo alejar, no puedo quitarte todas tus lágrimas. Pero te puedo contar lo que sé, los sentimientos y los miedos. Si me preguntas cómo lo sé, todo lo que va a pasar simplemente te contestaré que sé todo esto porque... yo también estuve ahí.
